Default alarms for Teg's

currently own a low-end clifford and was thinking about upgrading to a newer model (remote start, controls everything, that kind of crap)
what I wanna know is.................... are there any other good alarms out there or any unique alarms besides clifford??? I mean I know DEI owns them now so it seems like a monopoly, but years ago there were tons of car alarm companies.............

my parents have used Clifford alarms (mid upper to top line models) for about 2 decades to protect their cars.. and they drive way nicer cars than I do...they've been reliable, functional, lots of nice features and protected the cars in a few attempted break ins...

anyways.. you might want to look into the Clifford Solaris or AvantGuard 4 models... they should have the features you want (remote start, windows, controls everything).. and then some..

more important than the specific alarm model number is the quality of installation.. make sure your installer hides the brain well along w/ the wiring, wire looms, and starter kill relays... if you drop the dash and everything is there in plain view.. the security system won't do much to protect your car... sure a basic install will function (more of a convenience system than security).. but when it comes down to its purpose being a "security" system.. if its a crappy install.. its not going to do much to protect your car...

so make sure you discuss w/ the installer hiding the brain where its hard to access and hiding the wiring and everything really well... otherwise its a waste of money and you might as well keep your existing alarm.. you'd be just paying for the convenience features and a new unit..but not adding much security..

you might also want to look into Alpine.. their 8063, 8081 and their newer (can't think of the model number right now.. maybe its 150 or sumthing?) aren't bad... also Viper/DEI has the 550, 600 and 800ESP

I have and like the one from http://www.compustar.org

had no problems with the unit (have it two years) but the install was fucked from day one.
besure to get a person who knows what they are doing- not guessing!
