Default Reliability Talk

I want to make my car as raliable as possible.

So far i have done :

New timing belt
new water pump
oil chanbge every 3,000 miles
new ngk plugs
new ngk wires
new battery
new axels
new tie rods
new ball jons
new brakes
new radiator
new fans
new clutch
new flywheel
adjust the throttle cable

things im planning on on doing :

get a valve adjustment
clean the throttle
clean the IACV
PCV valve.
thermostat
coolant hoses
distributor cap and rotor,
valve cover gasket and gromets
trans fluid

my rack and pinion is leaking a little , but im debating on just replacing or go with a manual rack and pinion

my abs light is on- i checked and for some reason the cables are ripped , but im not sure if i want to get a new abs system or not .

What are other things i should check or do ? thank you for all your help!
I want my car to have no issues just like it would've came out the dealership yesterday

P.S Is there any way to do maintenance on the suspenssion ? for example take it off and lubricated or clean it ? if yes , what should i do ? ( i have skunk2 )

cool i just did some research about it . Part is really cheap. some diy threads said just to take the old one off and put new one on .

But one thread said " your going to have to adjust your idle because more air is being pulled from your crankcase " <-- true or not ?

Just when I was getting depressed with all the retarded threads today, I happen across this jewel.

At least ONE person is actually concerned with having their car actually run correctly. They aren't installing coilovers with bent frames, or worrying about paint jobs with CELs on. No concern over how mad tyte a JDM 5 lug swap is. Not trying to "make VTEC crack harder".

This gives me a glimmer of hope that just maybe, there are SOME Honda owners out there that still have a brain. Keep up the good work man.

Yup, false. If that occured there was something wrong with the install. Under normal conditions this should never happen.

OK, you win. I'm at 152k on OG parts, you have me almost doubled. Nicely done.

OP, this thread might help out with some ideas.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/1996-2000-civic-maintenance-schedule-2053807/

I know it's from the Civic manual, but the info is pretty much the same.

I do have a few things for my 94 Integra because I autocross, the engine is stock and @ 225,000K, [had it since new] it still runs like a dream, IMO it is due to regular maintenance, good quality parts, and oil/filter changes every 2500K-3000K without exception, coolant system flush every year and a clean engine bay.

My 89 Dodge Dynasty, [winter car] also gets the same treatment, it also runs just fine with no issues.

I am pretty sure there are more then a few of use on H/T that take maintenance of our cars seriously. 94

One thing you forgot are the coolant hoses. That can leave you stranded and Integras are notorious for haveing various coolant hose leaks!
Keep up the good work these cars run forever with basic mait. You maze well do the thermostat as well.
Good luck

I can vouch for that!!! Not for getting stranded, but just the coolant hose leaking part.

After pulling my engine and putting it back in around May 2008, I chased coolant leaks for 6 months until finally I decided to just bite the bullet and replace every single coolant hose on the entire engine during Thanksgiving weekend 2008. Pulled the intake manifold to do it, and afterwards wished I had pulled the entire engine again. It was a major PITA, but it makes me feel better than I have all new rubber under the hood, except for vac hoses.

my dad's car was in a European car magazine and the following article was a guy that had near a million miles on his 1st gen crx (i'll have to find the magazine for the exact mileage at the time).. all he did was the honda recommended maintenance and drive the damn thing.. the only problems i've had have been related to either not enough oil, or keeping the rpm's too high too long (in other words fill'er up and shift damnit)

good idea on the valve adjustment. many people over look that and end up floating a valve.
i have a 96 gsr with 205k that looks mint and runs perfect, all about maintence.
