So my b20z is blown and I am wondering if I decide to replace it with a 97-98 b20b (usdm), what all will need to be changed?
What about if I replace it with a 00 jdm b20b? What all needs to be changed if anything?
Can I use the ecu and engine harness from my 2000?
Thanks for any input!

according to this post, only the usdm 99-01 has the knock sensor for the high compression.

Opps, sorry! I meant knock sensor, not crank.
So both are obd2b? My 2000 ecu and harness will work fine on a 96-98 usdm b20b?
Thanks for your time!

I swapped a b20b into my 2000 honda crv. I bought the motor from Hmotors and bought the high compression one. I had to buy and oem oil pump for the motor so that the cranks sensor would fit. Now Im still throwing a check engine light and everything had plugged up correctly. Supposely somewhere on the block (the JDM one), one of the sensors is just a little bit causing it to throw the check engine light. I read it on here somewhere but I cannot find it at the moment. It is a plug and play swap. I ended up swapping the the OEM intake manifold one onto the JDM motor because I was on a budget. You dont have to do this but like I said for me it was cheaper to just do it this way. Another reason why I swapped the manifolds is because this is my daily driver and a needed it done asap
I believe the '97 - '98 is OBD2A, it really doesn't make much difference though. Keep your old harness, distributor and ECU.
You should be fine. Plus you'll have every single part you would need incase anything does go wrong.
Just don't toss the B20Z out right away and you should be fine.

If I'm not mistaken, the compression ration for pre '98 B20Bs is lower than that of post '98. 8.8 for JDM and 9.2 for USDM I believe, as opposed to 9.6 JDM/USDM.
the only difference between a and b are the ecu plugs nothing changes other than that so if you are keeping your ecu then dont worry about it
So, what is the outcome from the two people I noticed that swapped B20B's into their B20Z Cr-V? I have a 99 CR-V with a lot of miles and a local guy is selling a B20B with 166,000 miles for a good deal. Would you recommend the swap?
Thanks!
Jeff
