Hondata or Neptune?
i just finished my gsr swap and im just running a stock p28 right now. i got a lot of different recommendations for what to use. i have two tuners that i have talked to and one said hondata and other said neptune.
Ive heard nothing bad about hondata besides that its pretty pricey and for neptune im not too familiar with them but havent heard bad things about them either.
I plan on turboing the car in the spring time so i dont know if that will make a difference on my choice. Im a newb to all of this, so anything is appreciated. thanks

The price difference between Hondata and Neptune is only $90 retail.

No ways man!
I like having to figure out every problem with an engine management software before I can even start to tune with it! Thats the fun behind it! Even if my pistons get a little beat up because the software isn't doing what it's supposed to until you "fix it".

CROME ROCKS!
If you use another free program to datalog, just switch back and forth when you make changes, and just burn chips for every update instead of buying an emulator, you'll save money and occupy a lot of time. That'd be great for you since you're always bored. And since Crome will never progress forward, you'll be stuck in like 2005. You'll never get old! That IS better than Christmas.

No WAYS! Free data logging with cHrOmE?
After I JB weld my ringlands back together I will download that free log program so I can figure out how to make mad power!
My boyz are going to be so jealous it's not even funny.
I was going to buy one of those emulator things, but me and my boy just shut the car off while cruising down the highway & swap the chip out while the car is coasting!!!
Sometimes I like to go to McDonalds & get my 99 cent cheese burgers on Wednesdays. While they are taking my order I tune my idle tablez.
Can't you E-tune that idle over the intarwebz?
On a more serious note, you guys offering E-tunes are nuts, we all know that 97.2% of the cars that come in for tuning have serious issues that need to be fixed before tuning. Of that amount, 99% of them are obd1 cars.

I will e-tune your cnc machine from my cell phone free of charge!
And if it works for you, by all means continue using it. A large percentage of people have problems with it. Clearly you can't be oblivious to that fact.
Engine management is cheap for this market compared to a lot of other markets. Crome may work for some people, and by all means stick to it if it does what you need it to do, but it's 2010. People are moving on to better things. Let them.

the shop cars for example are either running on FAST or Motec....i wouldnt dream of running a high hp drag motor off of hondata/ectune/neptune/crome...but for 99% of the real world crome is fine.
when you have 20-30-40k+ into a motor would you really want to still run it off an oem ecu...hell no
I completely understand, though I would definitely run an OEM ECU... with COP and traction control. My opinion there doesn't really count since that's not publicly available.
