GSR intake manifold ??
i have a password whale ***** intake for my GSR and i was wondering if a skunk2 intake manifold would change the location of my TB to the point i couldnt use my intake?? would i have to buy a b16 intake pipe with the skunk2 manifold?? what do people do when they change the intake manifolds on GSRs..................and is the intake manifold change on GSRs a huge increase??? thoughts ??? gains?? pros /cons???
I like the Gs-R IM due to the IAB's. My car is bone stock besides an intake, but I still like IAB's (power + sound wise). I would highly recommend a tune after changing manifolds considering its a totally different casting. Yes it is worth changing over considering the stock GsR manifold is restrictive and has terrible flow, but is it worth the money for roughly 5whp if that? You will go lean without a tune due to the larger plenum size and more ir flow which is not good. I am guessing the manifold is somewhere in the $200-250 range plus even a basemap if your cheap that is another $50-100. Not worth it IMO.

PS. I have found a way around GSR manifolds restrictive and terrible flow conditions. You can get a GSR to flow really well and have a larger plenum. I will have my GSR Manifold back very soon, the is IAB still used, and it flows over 300cfm. As reference the shop doing the work has a Skunk2 Pro ported and polished and it flows 280-285cfm.
Throttle body position is completely different. Theres a reason why Password JDM sells 2 version.
My old AEM v2 was modified and fit both GSR and ITR style manifolds but it was also a completely different design than the Password JDM. I believe because of the thickness, width and length, the intake will not be able to be modified. Instead, you should buy the correct one for the manifold you choose.
But like stated above, the GSR IM is great if you modify it. I know Maxbore does them, and they flow much better than the Skunk2 and allows you to retain IAB and stock intake position

wow....thanks for the great info.and damn 300cfm out of a hogged stocky....where is this place ?? website?? good sleeper mod to go along with my cam setup
It is still under development, V2 as I call it. It is not hogged out. After I had very disappointing results with the Performer X I started doing extensive research on manifold designs. I think the shop and I have come up a way to modify the GSR to make it better than an ITR, S2, and the Performer X. Now the challenge it to get the modification cost competitive with these manifolds. This should be a great design for DD and sleepers. All out drag racers probably not, road racers maybe.
