Wheel Cylinder removal
I can't believe it's as complicated as it looks.
Can I remove my rear wheel cylinder without taking the backing plate/hub off?
One of the bolts is sandwiched between the backing plate and hub. that can't be normal.
Reason: I need to bleed my brakes but while attempting this I noticed that bleed screw is sheared off. I'm open to other options. I thought about drilling the bleed screw out but I'm not sure There is enough room.

I dont think you need to take the plate off. Its been awhile, but I remember taking the drum off, and being able to get at the nuts holding the wheel cylinder on without removing anything else. Replacing the shoes was more difficult that replacing the wheel cylinders.

I just did this the other day. One of the screws can be removed easily. The other I just used a 10mm wrench and loosened the bolt little by little. At the same time, pulling at the wheel cylinder.
Once the cylinder is removed, the 10mm bolt stayed and I just put the new on and tightened the sandwiched one all the way first.
Hope that helps

Genious! that's the solution thank you!
Mines rusty as sin so probably be impossible but at least there is a possible solution, and bonus if I snap the bolt heads it will come right out
Then I can be like the guy above and have only one bolt

Weird.. All civics I have ever worked on have a 2 bolt rear wheel cylinder. You're thinking about the drum bleeding cylinder right?
After tightening one of the 10mm the cylinder still had some play in it.. It would be pretty sketchy to run one bolt in that think since it's main part that allows the rear drums to actually function.
