b16 bogging/smoking
i got an 89 ef hatch, and the head gasket randomly went out..after replacing it i have had problems..when im alone in the car it runs fine and just sometimes bogg at a constant speed and i have to accelerate to clear it up..but when someone rides with me..it boggs hardcore, gotta fight it to stay running at a stop, and it smokes....bad...until i get to about 50 then it stops smoking but can smell fuel and exhaust and no power what so ever..unless i acclerate..can someone please help me out..i have changed my 02 sensor..its 4-1 header and the sensor is far down.heard they foul easy there...but it was a champ before the head gasket blew...so im stumped
Do you have a mess around the ecu of wiring? When working on it did you get water on the passenger floor?
Have you ran a compression check since the head gasket? Did you surface the head? New intake gasket? Are you SURE the t belt is dead on? Did you adjust the valves?
T-belt off, intake leaks or bad compression can kill your torque.
Did you time it properly? We need more info to help you. It could be as simple and the crank case breather hose that goes from the intake to the black box/can next to the oil filter being cracked, not installed or the check valve broken.

had it compression tested and the performance shop said it was from 185-190 through all cylinders, i didn't change the intake gasket cause i didn't take the throttle body off the head when i changed the head gasket, did break this one thing but got it fixed..its right below the throttle body and a hose from the throttle body goes to it..but i put it back together as the sun was setting so by the time i got to timing it was dark..and i did the whole putting the screw driver down the 1st cyclinder
