I want to build it cause it doesntt feel like it pulls as hard as a type r should gsr's beat me haha. I also have an aftermarket ecu. the engine is in a 99 em1. its a ctr swap NOT itr. Why dont you sell the CTR and get a ITR swap? I belive the GSR has more torque than the b16b. You say you have a 1400$ budget.. you could get a good tune, and ad some more boltons.

1400 isnt enough to get a GOOD turbo kit put together and tuned. Also boosting a CTR IMO is a cardinal sin. That motor was created to be and NA track motor from its first days on the drawing board. If it was my car I would either build the head (cams, valves, springs, retainers etc) and tune the **** out of it. OR i would sell that swap for 3500-4k and buy a GSR/LS swap and boost it. Way faster and better bang for the buck.

IMO building 1.6's is outdated and not worth the money with 1.8's available so readily and cheap.

maybe u wanna go for oversize high compression piston..put in hi duration cam and install piggyback ecu for fine tuning the air fuel mixture

I say sell it and buy an LS. Slightly build it, boost it, get a good tune, and you'll be stomping on (almost) everybody.

I wouldn't recommend it. I might not "know my ****" about everything, but I can guarantee you will not only save cash by going with a boosted LS setup, you will also make a lot more power with a stock block.

i would sell the CTR motor then buy a GSR and turbo it. i wouldn't turbo the CTR motor because it's compression ratio is kinda high. plus, i would want you to preserve the CTR motor as naturally aspirated cuz B16b are rare and dope. :D

OR sell just the CTR block, and put a GSR block or LS block or B20 block in it's place.

LOL, they are the same block!!

Really, the OP could just get away with changing the rotating assembly from a GSR or ITR, the parts will drop right in

I know lot's of other people talk about boost like it's no big deal, but they leave out all the downsides!

- a "good' kit costs some good coin
- although a turbo makes great power, it's often short lived
- your turbo honda will become a higher maintance

If you wanna get some more power, cams are the way to go, get some aggressive cams and a tune and you'll make noticeable power. You CAN turbo a CTR motor, its all in the tune, the whole compression ratio being too high is just nonsense, add fuel, alter timing, go fast.

I say this everyday to 2 of my friends that own b16's and think they are worth building. Its a freakin z6 with an extra cam and a higher CR lol. I am not trying to bag on you for owning a B16 because in reality they are nice little motors, but for the price you can pay for a stock ITR/GsR block and have it move just as well as a somewhat built bottom end doesn't make sense to me.

Spend the money on a turbo or build the bottom end and get a turbo later on. thats our opinion

I'd personally be happy with what I had and not worry about GSRs beating me.

As others have stated, if you want sheer power, go with a boosted B18B.

First off, I have a CTR in a 92 EG hatch, just with bolt ons, cams, header, exhaust, air filter, chip ecu, street tune, and never dyno it before, but I have to say, its quick for 1.6. I have kept up with stock RSX type S. If you want more power, staying NA, you gonna have to stroke it to bigger liter, thats the bottom line. If you got 1400, I would build my bottom end. CTR head can really take some abuse. Check in with Laskey Racing in So Cal. They build some awesome block.
