Icon2 problem with shifting

i got a 89 hatchback civic standard model w/ 4 speed tranny. i drove the car to wal mart with no problems at all. came out, tried to drive off but noticed that my shifter felt really loose and it felt like shifter wasn't grabbing onto any of the gears at all.

whats the problem here? shift linkage?

any input is appreciated.

thx

LMAO come on now, was that even helpful at ****ing all!?
Maybe in need of tranny fluid? Mine had the same issue, friend recommended that to me (oddly), but never got to solve it as engine died so bought myself a ZC SOHC with new Si tranny that I swapped in a few days ago...

Although when I took apart my tranny to sell, from dead d16a6, my clutch/flywheel was kinda broken on it. Wonder if that could of been my issue? As my tranny was butter, super smooth! Didn't get why my shifter was loose & wasn't catching at times, kinda dangerous.

just saying...loose shifter to me says that your linkage came off or broke orr something..what do you mean by loose exactly then? wont go into gear? clutch wont engage?

i would check to see if the stabilizer bar is still attached to the tranny (#15). or check to see if the bolt (#30) that holds the stabilizer bar onto the transmission is still there.
