Im looking to upgrade my engine in my 91 honda civic si. Wanting to put a new performance engine in it. My budget is about $2000 any suggestions?

 

Go for a B16a2. You can pick one up for about $2500 full conversion.

 

my brother is selling a b16a block. would that be a good idea to just build it up from the bottom? or go for a full conversion

 

If you build it from the bottom up you know what you have and can build it the way you want it. Could go either way I guess. Check hmotorsonline.com. They have pretty good deals on full conversions.

 

ok thanks. i just want to get the most bang for my buck and i dont know which route to go. b16 is the most common swap but is there anything else for less that will give me just as good of results?

 

I have been checking on the options myself and for the money the B16a2 seems to be the best option. Reason I say this is because you could pay around $3000 for 10 or so more HP or pay less for pretty much the same motor you have now. I would say get into a B16 and you should be good even if you want to boost eventually. It is a good motor. That is why I will be going that rout when I have the money for it.

and is it a short block or just the block?
