Default Just bought a 00 fbp R.. it needs alot of tlc

Whats going on Honda-tech I just bought a 00 fbp type r off of ebay. Some of you may have seen it on there up for auction. The car was involed in a 30mph crash it slide into a ditch side swiped a tree and hit a road sign. The guy stripped it of most of the type r goodies but it is still a clean title shell. I have been waiting to find a clean title shell that needed work. I never thought I would buy one from ebay. The car is a second owner which would make me the thrid and has 185xxx on the shell. Everything is all paid for and the shipping company is picking it up with in the next 48hrs. I never shipped a car before but its coming from garden grove CA to me hear in PA, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed about everything going well with the shipping and completing the deal.

I know its really ruff but as everyone knows R's are worth fixing up. I won't be the first one to rebuild one lol. The car had a jdm front on it as you can see from the one picture, but I was wondering what I should do, go back to USDM or fix the JDM and if I do USDM should I do the 97 front or keep it all orignal with a 00 front.

Im little torn cause I love all three fronts, I already have a 4dr LS with the jdm R front on it so I guess it would be a little dumb to have a second jdm front. Let me know your thoughts and if you guys have any parts just let me know cause Im going to start the rebuild asap. I'll make a list of what I need when the car actually gets here.

As of now I will need all interior parts with the exception of dash, carpet, and all the plastic panels.
But enough BS on to the pics, these are from the listing but just wanted to get a thread up of my new found love.
P.S I'm proud to me apart of such a great community of R owners. (even thoe its a project its still an R)

Damn, you have a bunch of work on your hands.. Fortunately you can still buy inner/outer quarter panels from the dealer as well as new doors. I just hope the actual car itself is straight.

Thanks guys I have a habit of buying completly screwed shells and dumping all kinds of money and hours into fixing them but atleast this will be worth it in the end.
I got it for 1200$ then shipping was 850$ door to door which I didn't think was to bad
I had some douch bumping my bid up and up by 20$ lamo but owell I still got it in the end.

Jesus christ, 2k? Fortunately they made integras for 8 years so it's easy to source body parts for dirt cheap. That quarter panel is going to be your worst battle, but it is doable.

I know a guy that has a nice OEM HID JDM front that he wants to sell, PM "coolhandluke" if that's the route you're interested in. We may take the rear quarter glass out of our chump car, if so I'll sell it for peanuts or may even give it to you out of sympathy.

The door should be a really easy find, I may know of one available here in NC. As for the steering wheel you won't have a hard time finding a replacement for, seats you have to be patient for but they eventually come up.

Glad to see you tackle bringing this one back from the dead, best of luck sir!

Looks like it needs a lot of work, I would go back to the usdm front. Good to see one being brought back to life. Good luck and keep us updated with the progress!

2k is a bit steep, BUT, it's still a better turn around than buying a gsr in the same condition.

buy a gsr shell in similar condition $500, invest $6000 and 300 hours sell for 4000-5000

buy your itr for $2000, invest $6000-7000, sell for 9000. you're still out labor but you have a lot of driving ahead of you and should still break around even on the sale.

thanks for all the positive comments guys... I can't wait to finish it either I have 2 other projects going on right now and thats finishing my k series in my 4dr teg and just odds and ends on my eg hatch but this is def first on the list now.... I figured I could give it to my son when he gets old enough he is only 10 months old now but by the time he gets old enough these things will be super rare, just have to make sure I have this thing in a vault in my garage lol
But I will def keep posting updates as soon as it gets here from cali the shipping company said by next friday so thats a little over a week which will probally be one long *** week.

it should be an easy fix after you replace the quarter panel and bolt on another door, just make sure you take a good amount of pictures. i keep looking back at my old pictures when i first starting rebuilding my R shell and its been though a lot. Good luck none the less

2k seems like a lot of money for what you got but I hope you will have fun rebuilding it.

I also have to comment on the clean title status.... Why do people care so much about a piece of paper that says clean title? You know the car is a wreck...... is it to sell it for more $$$ in the future? without disclosing the damage that the car had?
I'm just wondering.

if you could leave your negative comments to yourself 01-720 that would be awesome... and It only cost 2k cause of shipping from cali and to some people its the pleasure you get out of building something yourself and enjoying it later sorry its not what everybody else thinks I just wanted to share my build with fellow R owners

I would always disclose the damage if I were to sell it thats not why I wanted one with a clean title.... if push comes to shove I could always sell it later and a salvage title will never be worth what a clean title would be I am taking pics of every step along the way so if I do sell it I will have a complete build album and recipts

Well damn, I truly feel sorry for you. You must be incredibly naive and ignorant. In fact the ignorance you have just displayed only further promotes my assertion. I would address your parents for a pitiful job at raising an individual.

OP, congrats on the purchase. Build it how you want, the way you want. Sometimes the build itself can be the most important thing.

it depends. on a super low mile collector car it matters for value. on a 150k daily driver it only matters if the reason it was totaled is a big deal. if the car suffered an interior theft and had zero body damage the title isn't going to be a big deal with value if it's back together. if the car suffered a major wreck it's going to take a hit, even if it was repaired well.

THANK YOU....
That coming from a guy that was going to charge me 5k for his shell completely stripped of any part.
I emailed him about 9 months ago and asked if he would sell me his shell completely stripped.... all I wanted was the shell, dash board and the title. Cause I wanted to do a complete build for myself and he told me 5k in that condition lol just goes to show you the difference between a true honda enthusiast and not.
