won't go into gear when engine is running
setup: turbo d16z6, exedy stage 1 clutch.
ok so i've been without my and been trying to fix it for 2 weeks. one day a couple weeks ago while i was driving it was getting harder and harder to shift. i managed to get it home and look under the hood and notice there is no clutch fluid. so i fill it up but that doesn't help. but when i did put more into the reservoir it stirred up some black junk. i end up taking the master and slave cylinders off and they both have this black stuff on their shafts under their rubber covers. so i replace both of those but i still have the same problem. when i push it the clutch it goes down 1/4 to 1/3 before it starts to push the fork of the trans. before it gets to that point it just feels like it isn't connected to anything, like there is no fluid. could the brand new cylinders be bad? i checked them for leaks but didn't see or feel any.

i filled the reservoir and loosened the nipple on the slave put a rubber hose on that, pumped the clutch pedal until i didn't see anymore bubbles.
Anymore bubbles in what? The fluid coming out of the slave cylinder or the fluid in the clutch master cylinder reservoir?
How you described doing the bleeding process, you probably still have air in the line.

yeah the slave, sorry. i don't recall seeing bubbles coming from the master but to be honest i was really just concentrating on the slave. is it possible from air to get trapped in there and no be able to be pumped out?
