D15b1/a6 build need some thought's
So my 91 dx hatch has a bad head. The cam shaft is scored on the #4 piston lobe and the car only run's with the timing fully advanced. So im going to do a mpfi swap this weekend. Also when doing the mpfi swap do i change over the sensor's from the dpfi manifold to the a6 or just leave the a6 sensor's on.So motor build is as follow's
D16a6 head small pnp Y8 head gasket a6 manifold or should i switch to y8 manifold.Either way what manifold gasket do i use a6 or y8?Do i run the a6 cam or the old d15b1 cam?Would changing the piston's to d16(88-89) integra one's net me a CR where i have to run a ems?Or should i stay with the d15b1 piston's?swapping tranny for the si tranny junk the 4 speed.Im just looking to build a fun HIGH COMP motor that i can use stock injector's and ECU going to stay obd0.

Well if you are going to bump up the compression anything more than a small amount then I would suggest tuning and not using the factory ecu maps. If you use an a6 manifold, you could get away with the a6 head, a y8 cam gear (not either of the b1 or a6) and keep a pm6 (crx si ecu) and it would essentially be a d16a6 with lower displacement. Now if you swap pistons, again i would recommend getting a good tune.
Now if you are to the point where you decide you want to tune, i would suggest:
Y8 manifold
mild port and polish
mill 0.030 to 0.040" off the head
y8 head gasket
bisi stage 2 cam
bisi valve springs and retainers
a6 head
p29 pistons from the first gen integra
and a good tune
you wont be putting down anything super impressive, but 130-140 at the wheels is possible
Now as far as a tranny, what will you use this car for? for autocross i might suggest an hf but for drag i would say either si or zc. Personally i drive my crx long distances and very rarely autocross it so I chose a DX tranny (plus it was free)
BTW i have an a6 head for sale, check out the marketplace

^WOW this by far has been the best reply i have ever got!The car is nothing more then a toy i bought the ef for 200 bucks from a buddy. And want somthing fun to drive and i want to stay D for the wow factor. Now can the tune be done on the obd0 ecu i was going to run a si tranny. So either way if i go with the a6 head i have to run the y8 cam gear?Send me a link to the a6 head u have for sale.
Also let's just say i want to slap somthing on to just drive around till i build it.Will a a6 head with 16 head gasket work just fine with the stock d15b1 block?
you can easily slap the a6 head on the car and run the dpfi until you get all of your parts together but remember as soon as you put the head on that you need a new cam gear. The a6 head casting itself is identical to your b1. the only difference is the cam and the springs
heres a link to a craigslist ad of mine for the head

Would i be able to just drop the spring's and cam into the head and swap put the intake manifold and pretty much have a a6 head? Also will a y7 cam work?PM me price for head and manifold shipped to 87114 nm
