Default T1 Racing Turbo Blanket Observations

I just got one of the black turbo blankets from T1 and installed last night... Couples things I noticed from driving today.

1. my engine bay smells like rotten eggs
2. my engine bay use to be like a sauna when the hood was opened now that radiant heat is "nearly" none existant!
3. my iats dropped by roughly 5 degrees from where they were before
4. my ects usually get up to 190 and they were staying around 186
5. on pump gas tune at 13psi and i would be at 13psi around 5700 rpms... it was more like 5500rpms so for some reason there was an increase in spoil time! WTF!

reading additional reviews the rotten egg smell should go away in a few days... but overall i think i got my moneys worth for sure... its just an overall solid piece. it also is visually pleasant now that it is covering my uncontrollable 6265's rusty exhaust housing.

Thanks Steve and Tony! BTW I want a freakin sticker!

I will take a picture tonight

After today its not stinking "as" bad....

This morning was a little colder day out on the drive to work... but sitting in tunnel traffic for an hour with a fully built turbocharged honda isnt the best thing. IATs were at about 85 degrees and ECTs never went past 188. This blanket without question made a HUGE overall difference.

Happy I dont have a twin disc (Stage 5 CC)

This is exactly what I have been looking for! Someone that has done real live test's with one of these. Have you gotten your manifold and turbine housing coated? I think I remember seeing your del sol at the east coast H-T meet? Do you live in Va?

yes i live in virginia and my car was next to the Shuetuning tent at the east coast H-T meet. My ramhorn has the ceramic coating done on it which helped some but it still has radiant heat coming off of it... this blanket is awesome...

my mishimoto radiator has a 13" spal pusher fan on it to... I plan to try a puller setup but space is tight....

Turbo blankets are great. Increased spool from more thermal energy being stored in the housing instead of being lost from radiating off. Much lower under hood temps will also result in the power intake temps. More than just t1 make these too people. I've been inning one for three years and would never look back. Also thermal wrapping manifolds and dp's are a huge help

As for the rotten eggs idk man there made of fiberglass and shouldn't really have an odor

I got my manifold and turbine housing coated about a month ago and it helped out a lot! I have found out that a lot of people do both and it is a drastic improvement.

Mine didnt do the rotten egg smell but otherwise my results were the same. Well worth the money, underhood temps alone were like night and day... works great.

Just got mine yesterday. Great quality is what I thought as I gave it a look over for the first time. Fit's like a glove too. Can't wait to put it to use. Very happy with it.

Oh, and Tony had it shipped and to my door in 28 hours. I live in Canada so I say thats some VERY good customer service right there.

We have two blankets. One for T3 and T4 housings, then the T6 one for the bigger housings.

are turbo blankets known for shortening the life of gaskets?
I used a turbo blanket and my copper gaskets got eaten up pretty quickly..

now I am using metal gasket but have not put my blanket back on the turbo yet.

would it be overkill for a small t3 turbo?

i read that

-------------------------
As these Blankets are designed to retain heat within the turbo, it is recommended that the blanket be removed for vehicle "Garaging" as retaining the heat without the water/oil circulation may cause long term reduced life for the turbo (this is particularly relevant when used with non-water cooled plain bearing units.
