Can you tune for nitrous on Crome? (D16Z6)
Just bought a 93 EJ1. Stock D16Z6. Picked up a set of RC 310's and i have a Zex dry setup laying around. Need to know if crome can account for a nitrous tune (will be tuned by RLZ since they are 5 minutes away) or do i need to shell out money for Hondata or something else. All feedback appreciated. Already searched, dont tell me too.
According to a lot of people, you can tune a jet engine on crome. You simply need to write a plug-in for it :-) lol
Talk to RLZ, ask them what they want you to do since they will be the ones tuning it!
Chances are, they will recommend hondata!

One more thing... any opinions as to what a stock z6 with 150K can handle as far as nitrous shot.... reliably. ive tested the limits of high mileage ls motors before an it lasted 1 hour on the street... maybe half a bottle
^^ The 2 timer makes it really easy. Just program one map with your regular tune, and make another tune for when nitrous is running. Load each map on the chip (you have to use the offsets to program the chip). If you have a switch turning on your nitrous, just wire it to a relay as well that will send a ground to the 2 timer.
Your LS only lasted 1 hour because you didn't tune it properly. Same applies with any other engine.
not to thread jack here but title seems appropriate, how would one tune nitrous using crome? i understand the principle of retarding the timing and increasing the fuel but where would you determine when to stop adding timing or whats the best A/F ratio for nitrous? any tips?

Do some searches on maximum brake torque. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_brake_torque
google.com is your best friend
Well your looking at about 250hp at the crank. before the rods start to bend on the SOHC Z6. so id say 75 shot well tuned. Stock is about 130hp at the crank.. the reliability is in the tune...
people who dont want to get bent over for an overpriced product that just modifies stock honda code tables. there isnt a product out there that can let me tune customer cars for the price crome can.

the reason i bring up mileage is because ive read that oil in the combustion chamber due to worn out rings mixed with nitrous is a guaranteed recipe for detonation... so i dont want to blow up a well running z6 on account of what may have blown up my last sprayed engine.
thanks again for comments, especially from professional tuners.
how much does that 2 timer thing cost. any links to places selling it?
it wasnt tuned at all. zex dry 55 shot 4th gear it died.

Do your self a favor, buy hondata, ectune or neptune with real input/output/nitrous/dual mapping control if you plan on running a lot of nitrous & want the best systems available.
Crome will work, however you get what you pay for :-)
Fair enough im picking up an s300 p28 tomorrow in exchange for a j32a2. Thanks for everyones input. Looking forward to a my first single cam build.
The two timer is cheap. Check it out on moates.net
