Tried to search... if there's an existing thread, please link!
I'm looking at a 93 VX, and was wondering if there is anything Civic-specific I should look for when buying. It has the D15Z1 engine, which I will be keeping.
I've only had one Civic, so I'm not as familiar with the common issues or failures.

Has the timing belt, water pump been dont, if so when?
Brakes, accidents, clean title, rust on 1/4 pannels?
Im sure others will be able to add more.

Thanks... I was thinking of "buying down the miles" on my VX, but I'm also thinking that with proper maintenance, I'll be good for quite a while.
Heck, at 212k miles, it's just getting broken in!

the main things you need to worry about keeping your car running are the brakes rotors master cylinder timing belt water pump and clutch. those are realatively easy fixes but will cost you more down the line if they fail on you.
if you dont know anybody who works on hondas just ask around. im sure your town has somebody.just try to avoid the whole mechanic/dealer thing for these fixes. they will cost the same as your car

check for rust around the seat bracket bolts. also check for busted engine mounts. Check for milky coolant. my exhaust fell off around 190k...
As kyosoeg6 suggests check your brake pads, resurface your brake rotors, change your timing belt and your water pump. cheap and easy.
