Well if they were just cheap sleeved coil overs i would say get a lowering spring/strut combo, but since your not, those tien from what i have heard and read are pretty good. generally springs and struts are a softer less aggressive ride, but thats totally general, u can very stiff spring/strut combos as well, i love tien and eibach for springs and coil overs, and for struts always go for that real tokico illuminas . But really you need to tell us what type of driving ur car goes through or what type of driving u wanna do with it. street daily? some track and street? etc

it's for daily driving during the week and weekend track car so that's why i've been looking at coilovers recently

A lot has to do with your budget as well...

A good setup, that has been used countless times and has gotten nothing but praise is the Koni yellow/Ground Control setup. You can actually order the GC with different spring rates, depending on what you need them most for.

If you were to go with a full coilover setup, then the Tein is great for the money. Just keep in mind that the Super Street does not that much adjustability compared to, lets say, the Flex system. There spring preload does not adjust independently from the ride height.

I have had the Flex on my previous two last cars, and I cant say anything bad about them. Yes, ride comfort is a bit harsh at times, but you have to realize that the car is modified. If you wanted comfort and boat-like features, you would have gotten an SUV or luxury vehicle.

Run used ITR shocks with new hks springs for the best trade off of performance vs ride smoothness

yeah i was also told about the tein flex coilovers and the guy at the shop said they're made more for racing and track time but the ride will be more harsh than super street, still you will be able to adjust it more with flex, ill look into the flex coilovers and see if i like them, even though they cost a little more than super street teins

The coilovers are going to have a firmer ride because the spring rates are generally higher than lowering springs. If you're looking for something simple and cheap, stick with lowering springs + shocks. For the price of GCs + Koni's, you're getting into entry-level coilover territory. If your budget can fit a coilover system, that will probably be your best option because it gives you the adjustability you will want to dial the car in for you. Everyone likes their ride a little different. Good luck!

I have D2 coilovers on my DA and i absolutely love them

I had megan sleeves before and wow the ride quality compared to now is amazingly better.

I had them all the way soft all around for general ride and they were butter smooth i felt, I had to harden down the back tho because tire was rubbing a wee bit. I recommend D2s anyday great coilover, and cheaper then Teins

I've experimented with this on my DC2 for 10 years...spent a lot of time and money to get the car to ride and handle the way I wanted it to. If you're on a budget, then go with any set of shocks and lowering springs. If you want to be able to adjust the dampening and ride height and still on a tight budget, then go with tokico illuminas or koni yellows with ground controls. I still wasn't pleased with those set ups so I invested into a set of TEIN HA's w/ ITR LCA's. I was able to get the car low and have it handle and ride exactly the way I wanted to after playing around with the dampening settings/ride height. BTW, my car was my daily driver/commuter and taken on road trips with the occasional trips to the race track.
