ls vtec motor in a eg civic going for 450whp used as a daily driver, should i go with a t3 or a t4 turbo? currently using t3/t4 50 trim. like the quick spool but not enough power. i have a t3 and a t4 manifold so just wondering what turbo would work better for my setup? also pease list what turbo u think i should use, ex: t3 holset hx35. or ex: t4 precision sc6262. thanks for the help guys just dont want spend the money on the wrong turbo

Use a HY35. It has a smaller back housing which will make for a quicker spool time. The HX35 has a large back housing about equivalent to a .83 A/R. And they flow as much as a GT35 as long as you get the 7 blade version.

^^^^X2

Make sure you get the 9 cm^2 version of the HY35.

Thanks for a lot of info...so far it seems like there's no need for a t4? (Not for my power level)

no there isnt. Also not sure about a GT30 making 600WHP. But the HY35 is a very good choice, and cheap.

The GT30R ball bearing turbos are really gread turbos too. They do spool quick and they can support a lot of hp all the way to the top of the rpm range. They just cost a lot more lol. You don't need a T4 turbo to make that power.

10 second passes doesn't mean it made 600whp with a standard GT30R. Either the people that told you are lying, or they are some horribly calculated dyno numbers. It's not physically possible

Damn really? Why is that? Im curious. Does it not flow enough air?

that's exactly why. Even at a maximum of 53lbs/min at over 79% efficiency (which is basically "maxed out" at over 35psi of pressure) its still not enough volume of air to allow a single engine to make 600hp transferred to the actual wheels. There's enough difficulty doing that with a 62-64lbs/min (found in 61mm applications like SC61XX, GT35X, and Borg-Warner 262).

Im currently using a turbonetics t3/t4 57 trim, Making around 420whp on 16-17psi, and ran 11.1@127 last weekend in my integra. Spool is fairly quick.

He def does know what he's talking about. I'm not pushing those kind of numbers, but I have dynoed on a DynoJet dyno and they gave me really happy numbers, like 402whp on 11psi. I live in Colorado, so I'm 6000 feet up and they gave me numbers pretty much for sea level. I dynoed it on another dyno, I don't remember what dyno they used, but they gave me 321 whp on the same amount of boost. I personally don't trust any DynoJet, but that's because I live nowhere near sea level. It might be different for someone closer to sea level.

Dynos can be calibrated differently depending on which type you are using.

And I highly doubt Mac is talking out of his *** when he says that 600whp is a stretch for a GT30R

here is a dyno pull of a fully built integra with a pretty much stock head with a GT3076R and race gas making 503whp

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf0MNKIBf3I

to even add a set of pro1s or 2s i couldnt see this integra making 600+whp

considering this is @ 30psi and 110 octane, to turn the turbo up even more I would imagine it would be well out of its efficiency range and would probably be a flamethrower.

Wow r u sure you know dynojet like u say? And Mustang dynos read actual load. Glad it works in the land of Fresno, but that doesn't mean its correct.

if u make 503whp on 110 with a stock head
then u can make 600whp on e85+methanol injection
-its 2010 don t bee afraid of methanol kid..............

mustang / dynodynamic r junk
u can just change the ratio and get different numbers

beside weight and mph says it all
-this coupe ran 10.8@133mph with about 2700 lbs that is at least mid 500s

So you're saying you don't know the actual hp, just a possibility based upon an E.T. and mile an hour. Mid 500s doesn't make it 600whp as you've stated. I'm just saying that I'm fully aware of the physical limits of that turbocharger, and you can not do 600whp on any of these dynos. But maybe the laws of physics have been defied in Fresno in a way that no one else on earth has. And yes HP is calculated on the dyno. the equations can be altered like anything else, and there can be a miscalculation because either the owner is not aware, or is aware of the fact that they can alter numbers to get more customers. It happens all the time. That's why there's a constant debate about the dyno type used when claiming these numbers. I see. well.. good luck with that, is all I have to say about it. I won't debate any further. It seems moot at this point.
