2011 Yamaha FZ8... what do you think?
Anybody know anything about this new release from Yamaha?

I think it's a pretty decent step up for an FZ6 for just a grand more. I don't care for the styling and as a current FZ6 owner I know there are better lookers, better performers raw number wise, and cheaper rivals in the FZ8's market segment, but few, if any bikes I've ridden or owned have been as flexible or reliable as the FZ series.

Same weight, less suspension, uses the FZ1 block. I've had a few conversations with my buddy that has an FZ1, might be more ideal to pick up an FZ1 - and toss the Euro front if you like that look.

I can only speak personally, but you'd have a hell of a time finding a dealer in Arizona to lower the price of an 09-10 Triple in the showroom down a cool 2-3 grand to the FZ8's level.

('07 VT750C, then '07 XL1200C). I'd probably still have the Sportster if the VFR I have now didn't pop up on craigslist.

iirc this thing is just a detuned FZ1. it's every bit as heavy. i don't see the point in paying marginally less money for much less hp when you could get a FZ6.
for my money, in the segment, i'd much rather be on a speed3 or a street3. the street3 should outperform this thing by a mile.

though i'd rather be on a 05+ speed triple 1050
I actually like it, I'm a hooligan and its a hooligan's bike. I would agree that the FZ1 is probably a better bet and I've seen them, 05s clean for under 4k.
the bike is sharp. i think they should stick with the .6 and 1 liter bikes instead of having that midrange.
do you know if they're planning on getting rid of the 600? i saw some talk about it, but they have one for 2011

Doubt they'd drop the 6 line, as long as there is a competitve racing class (both Internationaly and here in the US) for these machines. Plus it's still a great "intro" bike for all the mfgs.

i still think 600cc's on a naked is plenty of power for all sorts of hooliganism. makes more sense than a heavy 800, imo.
no one races FZR's though. R6's yes. i doubt the 600cc supersport goes anywhere without some sort of ban or legislative process. but 600cc touring/naked/etc bikes may be more vulnerable.
