which parts interchange with JDM d15b vtec?
so my b7 blew, and I am getting a jdm d15b vtec. the cylinder head has a few bent valves, so i did some research, and found I can use a Z6 head on this block, so i picked one up for cheap. I need to know which timing belt I would use with this combo? I also read that I might need to use a different cam gear, but i never found a clear answer. do I need a different cam gear, or can I just put the d15b cam in the z6 head with no problems? and what head bolts do I use? the z6 or d15b? I also was wondering if all d15 clutches are the same, or will I need to find a specific one for the d15b?
any help would be appreciated!

Cam gears are the same. Essentially all the D15B is is a D15B7 block with a D16Z6 head. It has a special crankshaft and rods, but that's pretty much it.
There was talk about some D15Bs having a special camshaft that's more like a stage 1. There was a guy here who actually tore apart a handful of these motors and like one out of a half dozen was slightly more aggressive.
For the timing belt, you use the D15Z1 (VX) one. The OEM tensioner is special, but you can use a VX or EX/SI tensioner. It's a slightly different size, but no biggie.

You will probably need the 3 bolt motor mount that the D16Z6 uses. I know my old D15B7 mount (2 bolt) wouldn't work. And the iron mount for the 2 bolt mount wouldn't attach to the block. You like seriously will need a different motor mount.
The cast iron mount definately attaches, i've done it before, btw only '94 - '95 D16Z6s and D15Z1s came with the 3 post mount, '92 - '93s used the 2 post version.
the d16y8 timing belt is the right choice (106 teeth),the VX belt has only 103 teeth. use a d16z6 tensioner and you'll be fine. stock cam gear will work(d15b,d16z6) and your d15b cam is going to be your best choice. it's all in a "MINI-ME MASSIVE WRITE-UP"
Btw, water pump is for a VX and the headbolts are for a Z6.
right on guys! thanks for the info, one last thing i am stuck on, my 93 is an lx, which has a 4 wire o2 sensor and i read that the d15b vtec is a single wire o2. if i use the p08 ecu, can I just plug in my 4 wire o2 sensor with no problems, or will i need to get a single wire o2?

And unless my Civic LX had a motor swap, which I doubted, that's not right. I have a different theory. Non-vtec motors had 2 bolt mounts, and VTEC motors had 3 bolt.
And I know people have said they used the D16z6 timing belt without an issue and some used the d15z1. I used the D15Z1 belt and the D16z6 tensioner and it fit perfect. The D15Z1 belt is the same part number as what came on the motor and you cannot get the original tensioner...it's like a special JDM part or something.
I think the JDM ECU is set up to run a 1 wire. You can convert the USDM 1 wire ecus to 4 wire. I think it just requires a resistor or something. Pretty much you're just adding the wiring to power the heater inside the sensor so it heats up faster and the ECU can get an accurate signal faster.
Its actually a D15Z1 (VX) block, and the rods are the same as a Z6, crank is unique and I believe the pistons are as well.
VX belt is the right one, a D15B7/Z6 mini-me is not the same thing as a real D15B Vtec. Also D16Y8/D16Y7 and D16Z6 timing belts are all 104 teeth. D15B7/D15B8 are 106 teeth. Reuse the stock D15B Vtec tensioner. If the tensioner is bad you may have to run a Z6 belt + tensioner (the Z6 tensioner has a bigger roller and will probably take the slack from the extra tooth) When I swapped mine in I kept the factory tensioner and just used a VX belt.

Neither. I have a real D15B Vtec, mine was never touched. Cam gears I believe are the same.
i run a 4 wire 02 sensor in my d15b vtec with po8 ecu and have no problems. oh yea 94eg8 knows his **** gave me plenty of advice wen i was doing my jdm d15b swap and everything went as planned btw thanks agin for all the help 94eg8.. swapshop racing.com sells a jdm d15b vtec timing belt tensioner and water pump kit that is only for the d15b i used that kit.
