p08-1 head on y8 block?
just bought a y8 block and it came with a p08-1 head, which i believe to be the jdm d15b head correct? is this a good setup? i have heard of the y7/y8 and z6 swaps, but never this one.. any info?

nope not in car. and I'm not really worried about it as i have the righteous head for the block. i mean i don't see why it wouldn't work without some fine tuning. they put k20 heads on k24 blocks and si heads on gsr blocks so i don't see the difference.

P08 head could have come from either a D16Z6, OBD1 SOHC Vtec ZC or an OBD1 D15B Vtec, they all use the same P08 head. Yes it will work, you might need a Y8 cam gear though.

Just run a z6 timing belt, you always run the belt to the head you are using, easier than finding the cam gear. However i believe the z6 and y8 have the same teeth per gear, don't quote me, could be wrong on the gear size.

ok. ill look into the timing belt/cam gear thing for future the future.
so this y8 block i just purchased is bored .25 over.. eagle rods. vitara pistons. and i have both this p08 head and a y8 head. now I'm unsure on what head to use on the block. i plan on running all motor high(er) compression, as this will be a daily driver. car will most likely be tuned on hondata. i don't know how much compression i should run, and what head to use to achieve it either.. lol i just want a strong turbo-ready daily.
