Default sr20det good for autocross??

Kind of off topic since its not a honda, but I have a 96 gsr turbo that I was going to autocross but I think my tubro has too much lag for autocross, much better for drag racing. anyway I am thinking of buying a 200sx se-r and swapping a sr20det bluebird. The car will mostly be my daily driver, but since its a smaller t25 turbo, I think it would do pretty well for autocross with the right suspension set up..any opinions??

I'm not sure which year but the SE-R without the turbo pretty much rocks in Auto-x with the right tires.

You'd be better off getting a 240SX and swapping in an SR20DET. 200+ hp on an autocross course would probably be easier to manage in a RWD car. IMO of course.

I've autocrossed a 240SX/SR20DET a few times. Being used to my supercharged ride, I found the turbo lag annoying. I'd floor it when I wanted power and by the time it kicked in I was at the next braking point.

You could probably get used to the power delivery though. It comes on smooth. Just get on the gas ahead of time.

If you need an engine, try http://www.heavythrottle.com . That's my brother's white 240SX on the site. That's the one I autocrossed.

I thought of doing a 240 but I live in Utah and rearwheel drive in the winter is no good! Thats why I was going to go with the se-r, it will be a daily driver as well as an autocross car..

Only problem I foresee is being in SM. Where lightness and power count more But being a FWD car I think the 240SX would be better since it's RWD.
