Default yea yea upgrade the sound...

first and foremost i want to say i dont want a subwoofer. i know this is kind of controversial if one wants good sound quality across the spectrum but im not really wanting to add the weight in my ride. I want to upgrade the horrible factory speakers to something good sounding and has great bass. Maybe some of you may know but when you sit in a new car that has say a bose system, it sounds pretty good you know, clean, bass is kickin, etc...That is the kind of sound i want to achieve without having to pull speakers from a used car or find some at the yard or ebay. People have different opinions on sound quality but it seems as though the higher priced component sets on say crutchfield will usually feature tweeters with crisp highs and mids that are tight with no bass and people say to get a subwoofer. I dont want that and any other speaker system you can buy new just sound garbage in the end in my experience. So you guys see my dilemma? any advice would be great guys, thanks.

I don't know what your trying to get at with your dilemma. Just save up for a bose system I guess?
Have you been to any local car audio shop/store and see what they have set up? Since everyone has their own opinion on sound you should probably try to hear speakers first hand.
And the reason sound systems have tweeters (high), speakers(mid), and subwoofers(low) are so that each outputs/filters sound by frequency as to not distort or drown out. Keeps sound crisp and clean.
Haha, someone can explain that better.

You mentioned weight, you can try looking into one of those powered slim subwoofers. They're pretty compact and light.
From what I've gathered they fill out the bottom end, but don't expect it to hit/bump hard. Crutchfield sells them.
Unless you don't want one at all.
Pretty much upgrading speakers all around and the factory deck will give you better sound.
Then good quality 6X9's(assuming) in the back should provide adequate bass sound. Speaker choices are vast, I'd read up on reviews or try to get first hand listening.

i know the JL audio components use to have nice bass to them, also most good sounding factory systems do have a sub, either a 6.5" or 8".
