I have searched the forum and not found a similar question, so here goes...

My daughters car has delay in engaging the transmission when you shift into Drive. It is like being in neutral for a moment or two, and then it drives and shifts very well. I have to swap the engine and thought I might take care of this annoyance "while I am in there". Does this sound like a torque convertor or an internal transmission issue?

Please ignore this as the first time i asked the question, it did not show up for some reason. Probably newbie error.

 

my 94 takes a couple seconds to engage, but it has done that since i have owned it (since 2000). I have put 130k on it since i got it, and it hasn't had a single problem. I change the fluid regularly.

In fact, i tore it down last year since i thought i needed diff bearings (didn't need afterall) and changed the strainer and the friction discs in the clutch packs. turned out the stock ones were still at factory spec with 205K on them. pretty good trans in my opinion. I went ahead and put the new discs in anyway since i had the old ones out.
