Cooling fan not working (90 crx b16a)
check to see if the fan comes on when wired directly to battery. if it doesn't, replace fan. if it does, check the coolant fan switch. it is either on the back of the block or on the thermostat housing. jump the wires at the connector. if the fan comes on, replace the switch. if it doesn't come on, check all wiring and coolant fan relay.
Usually its the wiring. I have never actually seen a honda fan fail. Since the car is swapped I would check the cooling fan temp switch. If it is a b16a gen 1 then it should be on the back of the block. If its a later model b16ax it will be on the t-stat housing. Check that first. Easy way to test the fan is to jump the relay from the battery power.
hey! thanks for the quick answers gentlemen! i know its going to be a bit tricky getting to the back of the block, there any easier way to do this other than reaching down in a tight little area? my car is also supercharged, not sure if that would have anything to do with it. Also its an aftermarket fan and radiator. .. also is it as easy as running a few wires from the back fan switch, to the battery to check for power?
no there are TWO wires connecting to the switch (back of block, round brass plug) unplug the wires and take a small wire and connect the two.. then turn your ignition on and if the fan comes on, its that switch. if the fan doesn't come on then you gat relay or wiring problems.. hope this helps
I had same problem a lot of times the wiring can go bad. try running a positive to one connnnetor and run a ground to the other to test if the fan it bad or not.

Could it be the relay even if the fan worked off the jumped wires?
Is it possible the wires have a bad connection on the switch? ie corrosion.
I'm going crazy trying to figure this out. Would a bad thermostat cause this? If a thermostat is bad will your temperature gauge still work?
Connect ohmmeter between sensor terminals.
Heat thermo sensor in suitable solution while observing ohmmeter.
Meter should indicate continuity when temperature reaches 190-203°F.
Allow sensor to cool while observing meter. Meter should indicate no continuity as temperature drops below approximately 182-188°F.
If sensor fails to operate as outlined, sensor is defective.
