Default Header/Cat install questions

I'm about halfway (or just less than halfway) done with my jdm dc and carsound cat install. Helms is great help. So far, no problem. Except....

1. I absolutely, positively cannot get the o2 sensor out of the stock exhaust manifold. The manifold is out, and the 02 sensor seems to be very content attached to it....

2. How in the world do you get the o2 sensor off the stock cat? Still working on the cat->b pipe bolts, but when I get the cat off, it isn't going very far with the secondary 02 sensor attached. Considering the trouble I'm having removing the o2 sensor from the exhaust manifold, I'd think the other one was just as rough. I'm guessing the plug to disconnect it is somewhere in front of the middle console, since it isn't accessible from below.... Is this true?

Thanks for the help in advance.... and to Dave at SMS Products for getting my cat to me. It showed up at just the right time!

Chris

the o2 wires go through a rubber grommet through the body. pull the grommet out and pull the wires out until the connector comes out then you can disconnect it. try to use some penatrating oil to remove the o2. i ended up having to use a blow torch to heat up the sensor and a big wrench with a hammer to remove it.

Anyone? I've spent longer on the o2 sensors and three cat-> b pipe bolts than I spent on getting the header unbolted and out.

Once I had the cat removed - I just used a big *** wrench and some muscle...

Looks like I'm going to heat the bolts. This is getting ridiculous!

Well, at least I know they were on there snug.

get PB spray ... it comes in this funky looking can.

and snap-on makes a special socket for 02 sensors...although any old wrench will still do the trick.

always disconnect the 02 sensors from the plastic connectors and work on them once they are away from the car.

Big *** long 22 mm wrench does the trick for the 02's after soaking in liquid wrench for a while.

Cat bolts needed lots of heat, stupid pieces o chit.

Anyone who has a few free minutes now, please IM me. I'm beyond frustrated with this project at this point.
