fuel pump....help!!!
We opened up my fuel pump yesterday cuz we were gonna put a integra fuel pump and man was it rusted. We finally managed to pry it out, and it was some small box with a long wire thing (looks nothing near a integra fuel pump) we didnt know what to do so we put it back in, but while we were opening it we broke 2 holders, now its on kinda loose and we tightened the lid back on. The car still runs fine, but we have this heavy fuel smell in the car, that cant be safe for us im guessing. Any way to fix this??

Post pics and I can help more.
As for the fuel smell, you probably ruptured a breather line or punctured the tank
For some reason we didnt find the fuel pump then. We opened that little metal circle thing in the back with a wire going into it. When we opened it we only pulled out a little black box attached to a long wire that could move back and forth but not fuel pump!? When we looked inside the hole we could see all the fuel in the tank. Hmm... also im pretty sure we didnt break any lines, but that smell is still there. I think its cuz we broke two of the little holders. But we put the top back on tight. The back is completely stripped, do any of you guys notice a fuel smell. Also is it dangerous for me to be inhaling that ****. I think ill go and tape up that area with the two holders maybe itll stop some of that smell

Are you sure that you hooked up ALL the lines when you re-installed your tank, including the vapour line that runs beside the filler neck? I have never heard of there being a "black-box" in there, like I said, it's a cylinder with a strainer attached to it. When you lift the assembly out of the tank, it should be clear as to what it is. Try and get some pics!!
dude the box thing is the fuel sending unit (tells the gauge how much gas there is) u actually have to drop the tank down from under the car to get to the fuel pump
hey, since i opened that fuel sending unit, it fits kinda loose now and some vapors sneak out. So what i did was pack it in with some tape, just one question that area doesnt get extremely hot where the tape might catch fire does it????? I dont wanna blow up!

Oh.... I get it now! Like Johnzm said, you just removed the cover that goes over the fuel sending unit! You have to drop the whole tank. HAVE FUN! Also, I don't think it would get hot. What is near it that is a source of heat???
