Hello all,

I have a question regarding wheel fitment. I am planning on buying a set of Enkei RPF1's locally.

The fronts are: 17x7 +45 225/45/17

And the rears are: 17x8 +45 255/45/17

The car they are going to be mounted on is a '99 Prelude SH that is on factory height.

My biggest concern is the rears. They're 8 inches wide and the tire is a a 255. Will I have to do any modifications to the car like fender rolling or cutting of the rear bumper to accommodate for these wheels?



I searched and found threads regarding offset and wheel fitment, but it still does not make any sense to me. So, any insight on this would be of great appreciation.

Rear tires won't fit. Rear wheels could, with the right tire. And you should be putting the rears in the front of your car.

 

The 17x7 +45 225/45/17 will fit fine you shouldn't have to roll your fenders unless your car is dropped. But it is pointless to have a staggered set up with the rear wheel being the larger ones on a front wheel drive car its just looks dumb. Put the 17x8 wheels in the front of your car and mount 235/45(or 40)/17 tire.

The rims will fit no problem its the tires sizes that will rub. Especially if you car is lowered. The max tire width I would recommend on a lude would be 245 and you will have to do some aggressive fender rollin to fit them with out adjusting you camber.

Yeah, I guess now that I think about it, putting the rears on the front would make sense, since this is not a RWD. Thanks, man!

 

A 235/40/17 is on the raggedy edge of what will fit with stock camber and that offset, both front and rear. Your results may vary.

Personally I'd suggest a square setup so you can rotate tires normally, and all that. 17x8 and 235/40/17 is fun. 45 is too tall, and you want a short tire to help you fit.

So, by raggedy edge, you mean it will just barely make the fitment with a 235/40?

I know that's a hot trend right now, but at this time, I am going to stick with the recommended tire size for the wheel. thanks for the suggestion, though.

 

Yeah. Tires are all a bit different and it will come down to that. A wide 235 might give you issues.

 

I'd just say pass on them, RPF-1's are all over the net, surely you can find some for the same price that are the right size. A lot of times too when you buy 4 wheels from someone over the net they'll usually hook you up with free shipping.
