Default Crank No Start: Intermittent

My 04 EP3 at times just cranks and doesn't start but when I shut it off, release the clutch and restart.....it fires right up. This doesn't happen all the time, just randomly. Has anyone else had this problem before? Could it be the factory alarm or immobilizer? Bad ECU? It runs fine when running, no miss fires etc. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2003 EP3 si. Currently it is throwing a cam position sensor code. Because of this code my car does not hit vtec. when the motor is warm although, i can shut the car off and clear the codes by taking the negative off the battery and the check engine light goes off and the car has full power and vtec. I bought a new CPS and put it in. Now the check engine light is always even when i clear the codes. so no vtec. Im just wondering if i am missing something on the install such as if the cam has to be in a certain position when the sensor is replaced or did i get a fulty sensor? please let me know your input!
thanks.
no vtec in a k20 sucks

I've had this happen to me once on my ep3 and manyyy times on my spec v, I think it has to do with the car not properly reading the key, or being too slow to pick up the signal for the immobilizer. if it does it persistantly than the dealer should be able to do some sort of flash to kinda clear the system out, otherwise its just deal with it and save the money.

Not to be rude but I'm not sure what this has to do with my orignal post. Anyways, if your check engine light is on, your not solving anything by disconnecting the negative terminal cause the light will come back on if the problem is still there. Pull the code, start a new thread and post it there or maybe do a search first. This will prevent confusion on two seperate concerns.

Thanks for the reply, that's what I've kinda came to the conclusion of. It hasn't been a major issue yet but it does get kinda annoying. I'm gonna try a different key and see if the problem still persist.
