Default "Quality" HID Kits

I just got me a pair of Stanley JDM one peices for my lude and my plan is to go with an HID conversion with a 6000k bulb. I've been doing a little research and theyre all over the place, ebay, amazon, etc etc.

My question is whats the difference......why does and ebay kit cost $40 bucks....while the passwordJDM kit(which is the one im more so leaning towards) cost $150......while xtralights kit cost $350 dollars....what causes these difference in price?

You really need to do a retrofit, I hate getting blinded by people with HIDs in stock reflector housings. It can be done for $300-400 if you shop around

Correct, a retrofit is the best option with the most advantages. There's a thread on how to do it to your JDM one piece headlights using TSX projectors (a popular item for retrofits) in this forum. Check it out, it's an awesome write up with good pics.

In that case, look at some nice halogen bulbs in the color you want. See if that will meet your expectations. I've heard stories of cheap HID kits...they're cheap at first, but the sub-par components (I've heard lots of stories about ballasts going bad) will need to be replaced more often than a good retrofit. It's a gamble, but it's also your car. There are, however, HID kit success stories. If you still want to do a HID kit, good luck and make sure to post pics .

I did a retrofit for under $200.

Mini-morimoto projectors from theretrofitsource.com - $120
Shrouds came with projectors
HID kit from ddm tuning - $30

That's $150 and I have a nice bi-xenon retrofit

DDM tuning kit is pretty reliable...me and my friend both have a set and it's been fine

That's a great deal; I've heard of DDM before, I was browsing their products a while back when I was considering HIDs. Looks great on your car, too. Any pics of the light output by chance?

hi beam

The mini morimotos need very very minimal cutting. I could fit the headlights with some needle nose pliers and sandpaper
