Default D16z6 cel problem

Well we did a D16z6 swap during the summer and everything was fine, no cels. Then recently I had to unplug some of my wires like the distributor, vtec solenoid, all the ones in that area so I could put a thermostat in. After I finished putting in my thermostat and plugged everything up my car had a cel. Anybody know how to read cel codes on the p28 ecu since there no built in light? I think it's the vtec solenoid but I can't really tell if it's engaging cause it's a sohc.

Any help will be appreciated

Did you use a jumper for the ecu?

there should be 2 extra wires hanging off of it that you needed to hook to a toggle switch. If you didnt do this, for now just tie those leads together and turn the key to on.
