Default no vtec k24a1block/k20z1head need advice

i have an 06 type s shot a rod through the block tore it apart head is good so i got a k24a1 block put it together runs good perfect just redlines at 5500 rpm at a stand still pretty much when vtec is supost to kick in drove it runs strong till vtec then loses power bad so im sure vtec aint working properly used k24 oil pump and timing components need some help on figuring this thing out im thinking oil pump but idk can you guys give me some advice or a link that i can run some tests

that is the longest run on sentence I've read in a long time... please use grammar it helps when reading a story...


Anyways, Do you have kpro? I assume you do. If not you're an idiot for slapping a k24 bottom on a k20 head and not tuning it.

Do you have a CEL? A CEL will prevent a honda engine in engaging vtec.

If you have a k24 bottom end you might want to look into lowering your vtec engagement point. I'm engaging vtec and 3200rpms with my k24.
