Make sure it has all the emission **** like a stock motor. It should pass without any hassle. I've passed zc's at smog shops with no problems. Don't waste your money on bar'ing a single cam..
Make you have a cat, p28 ecu, I/m the right injectors. O2's are good and th gas tank holds pressure for the evap test

Ive passed smog with my zc delsol. Hes basically saying that there is no reason to go through so many obstacles when you are just bar ing a single cam. Its not an eye catcher like the b series are. The chances of being hassled by the man for a single cam is super slim.
Just make sure everything is in working order and all vacuum lines go where they should and that they don't leak. Make sure the cat is good and don't try to get it smog with any aftermarket fuel regulators or chipped ecus.
Heck, my zc was originally obd0 but still passed emissions.

i don't see whats so eye catching about having a b series...some people prefer the simplicity of owning a d-series and would just like to pass inspections without getting harassed by the cops for having any engine change period.
cost is also another factor to owning a d rather than a b when it comes to buying replacement parts...one question though; do you like your women with b's and not d's

i have a d16z6 in my 89 crx si. my light is on too. i paid someone to pass it since the chipped ecu will not allow that light to go off. once i realized that i went all out and got rid of the o2 sensors and cat. hell i even went with a bigger exhoust since theres so much back pressure. i had a glass pack on there but the back pressure blew it right off. lol

im born and raised in cali. dont worry about bar state couldnt really afford to keep it going so alot of the people that had to go get bar'd cause of chp got there cases dismissed so as long as your passing smog YOUR GOOD
