harmonic balancer question

Default harmonic balancer question

I have been looking for an aftermarket harmonic balancer for a while now. I want one with no power steering on it. its a b20b bottom end. thanks for the help

Several shops will cut the p/s belt section of an oem unit, then have it balanced. Much cheaper than an aftermarket unit and it is actually functional unlike those cheap billet pulleys.

what kind of shops? what is the diff form factory crank pulley from those billet or expensive pulleys?

yeah i would perfer just buying an aftermarket one this is a fully built engine

Hondas are internally balanced engines.. a stock crank pully will be more then enough, unless you have some wild setup.

I've seen oem stock balancers hold up to a full drag B16 motor reving to 11k

just run a stock pulley. If you want to take some weight off the rotating mass use a lighter flywheel.

not meaning to thread jack. But I beleive when I bought my ls it had a ebay Crank pulley. should I replace it with a stock one?

i've seen some heated debates on this topic before so i won't go there. But i think most anyone can agree that running the OE pulley comes with the best piece of mind. If you want to better form your own opinion do some reading/research on what an engine damper does and what the difference between damping and balancing of an engine is. I think this is where a lot of the common misconceptions stem from.
