Default Brake Fluid Leak

I got a 89 civic and im seeing a slight brake fluid leak coming frm between the master cylinder and booster. Is there a gasket/seal that needs to be replaced to stop the leak?? and if there is, could this be the seal?

#9 in the illustration.

any input is appreciated.

Yes that is a seal, but that shouldn't cause your to see fluid, I think it is more of a dust seal. When you bench bleed the master cylinder off the car it doesn't leak fluid. I think you need a new MC or a rebuild kit.

would it be worth it to buy a rebuild kit instead of buying a new master cylinder?

ok but just to clarify what exactly is wrong with my master cylinder? seal on secondary piston? just want to know what caused the problem before i move onto fixing it

o and also is brake fluid leaking INTO the booster??? if it is what do i need to do about that... wouldnt think brake fluid is good for the diaphragm in booster.

thanks

One of the other seals is bad, possibly #16. The seals are rubber rubbing against metal, they don't last forever which is why you may as well replace the whole thing. Damage to the booster will depend on how long it has been leaking.
