I could really use some help with this one. I just bought a new crx 2 day. its a 1991 dx with a dual point d15. it only stays running for a few seconds and it backfires like crazy. when i give it gas it has no effect it backfires the same like i wasnt even touching it. i replaced cap and rotar and it didnt make it act any different....

 

so as soon as you turn it on it starts to back fire


could be a timing issue

 

Is it backfiring in the intake or exhaust ?

 

i think from the motor. and i dont hear the fuel pump comin on. i was told 2 try changing the main relay

 

ya mine is backfiring to but only when i give it gas

 

Check your timing. It could be getting worn and at one point jumped a tooth or whatever. Its worth a shot.
