I searched and didn't find what I was looking for. I have an 01 ITR with 119k miles on it and all of a sudden i lost 85% power steering. When I turn the wheel the belt squeals and the pulley looks like it's having a hard time turning but it turns fine when not turning the wheel. Is this a power steering pump failure or something else?? Need some answers asap! Thanks

 

are you low on fluid?

are there any leaks?

sounds like the pump or pressure line.

 

Fluid is good, no leaks. I don't know what it could be but i'm not currently driving the car which is a bad thing cause I need it.

Loop the rack, you don't need PS anyway.

 

sounds like pump may have gone bad, it mean time take off the belt and you can drive till get pump rebuilt or replaced

If you decide to replace the pump i have a used one that i took off at 45k 2 years ago. LMK

Well i'm gonna be without my car for awhile cause I don't have 400 bucks for get it fixed but thank you to everyone for your input.

 

I thought my pump went bad because the same thing happened to me, and a temp gun told me the pump was burning up. After changing it the same thing happened. It turns out that the high pressure line collapsed and clogged.
