1996 accord LX/EX p0450
I did a head swap from non vtec to vtec. I finally got it running well and timed right, however i have a "pending" code on my code reader. Its the p0450 code. I am using all non-vtec things, including the intake manifold. The only vtec related items are the solenoid, head, pressure switch for vtec, and ecu. The ecu im using is a POH-LO2. Everything thing else seems to be working okay. I was having this code come up with a mis fire, i found that to be a problem with a wire. I haven't looked to see if its still there without the mis fires but im guessing it will be. So any ideas?
Isn't that one of the EVAP codes?
Simple check. Verify the gas cap is closed, a loose of faulty cap can set the code. Check all your vacuum hoses, you may have crossed a line or did not reattach one. On the '94/'95(probably '96/'97 cars too) there are two vac lines that attach to two hard lines on the left side shock tower, located between the PS hose and MC on F22s, if you cross these it will set a code.

The 37820-P0H-L02 ECM is from a '97 model year sedan or coupe. There is no listing in the '97 Accord Helm manual for a P0450.
There is a P0453 listed, which indicates high voltage input for the fuel tank pressure sensor. In '96-97 Accord sedans and coupes, this sensor is not located anywhere near the tank, but rather on top of the EVAP 2-way valve on the firewall in the engine bay, just to the right of the cruise control actuator. The same sensor is used for both VTEC and non-VTEC models. Make sure it is plugged in, undamaged, and connected to the proper hoses.
Do you have a sedan, a coupe, or a wagon? Wagons do not have this sensor and use a different ECM.

thanks guys! I have a sedan. the check engine lights comes on as soon as i turn the car on.
Chicken- the o2 sensor code never came back.. i dunno why it came on in the first place.
I did somehow short out the 80 amp battery fuse during my head swap, i never saw anything arc. Is there a fuse for that as well? Or maybe the sensor just got shorted or went back on its own. Either way, i'll take a look for it tomorrow. Thanks
