02 Accord transmission cooler lines and CEL
I have an 02 accord and recently started to leak some fluid. As it turns out the fluid is coming from the transmission cooler lines being corroded. I took it to a place to get an estimate and was told that in order to replace them I would also need a new radiator. Now that does not seem right to me. Please some help from anybody with knowledge about this. Also I had a CEL with code P0420 about a month ago. I changed the front 02 sensor and reset the ECU and its been well for about 1500 miles or so, but today I got the CEL light back on with the same code. I dont know if there is any relationship between these two given the proximity of the sensor to the radiator. Please help.
p0420 is a low catalyst efficiency code. you should be looking at the rear 02 sensor or converter. that code isn't hurting anything at all though. as far as the radiator needing to be replaced, there should be hose fittings on the radiator that the cooler lines attach to. if those are corroded, then the radiator should be replaced. i don't think the fittings can be replaced separately. that may be what they are meaning.
Thanks, I took a look at the fittings and they are indeed corroded so Im already looking to get a new radiator as well as cooler lines. Any idea on how much the cost of labor should be? I got a quote for 140 for installing it.
Yes I figured so but wanted to double check.. I will go back to that place for the job. Lastly does anybody know where I could get the transmission cooler lines? I have tried several junkyards and google with no luck.
Which transmission cooler line is corroded, #12 and/or the fittings on the radiator? #12 and the other radiator cooling hoses are separately replaceable and available through the dealer for not too much. If it is corroded where the radiator fittings connect to the hoses, then the radiator needs to be replaced. What is the condition of the radiator, is it corroded? Has the coolant been changed regularly?

You might be able to get hoses from elsewhere; but, #12 is something more specialized. It retails for $23.25 from the dealer. You can find the part cheaper via Honda internet dealers; but, the shipping would make it more than just going to your local dealer.
