Any one know if the horn in my 04 sedan civic has both + and - wires and if its a + switched horn or -

I was hoping to figure this out before I take the bumper of to do a horn swap with a totally different horn. Thanx for all your help so far every one.

 

The horn only has one wire coming from it. The bracket itself is the ground.


I've actually been toying with the same idea. Which horn are you going to swap to? I was thinking something from a late 70's station wagon, or maybe a truck. Something loud.

 

well I hate that chintzy Honda horn, and i have a decent air horn, so for now, i am just going to use that. I think the Honda horn circuit should be strong enough to handle this air horn, its just two small horns and a small electric air pump, until I it? Maybe I will look into other car horns, like you are going to do.

 

I've seen something similar to what you're describing being used in a 7GC. Are the two little horns made of red plastic? Got a picture of your air horn? A link would work, too.

It should be fine, though.

 

no pic, but they were red,prob. 6"long or so. I painted everything black to keep them from being seen.

 

Sounds about right.

I don't remember exactly who was using one, or whether they wired it to their existing harness or just ran a new 12v lead. Maybe they'll chime in with that info.

It should be fine. It's not like it'll draw large amounts of current for an extended period of time. It's just a little air horn.
