horrible customer cars
all to often in the high performance auto industry people take it upon themselves to completely butcher cars only to end in defeat. ive seen many and recorded a few before and after shots of customer cars brought to places ive worked to be fixed are redone. i think it would be interesting to see what other shops have dealt with over the years, butchered swaps, horrid wiring, shotty fab, just plain unsafe things that people have seen or photographed. i know most of them could be put in the worst fabrication thread but its nice to see when hacked cars are straightened out and turned into something nice again.
no pics but this guy brought in his car that kept blowing fuses so he decided to do a fuse box delete. Now his car is mega fubared and burnt up almost all electronic devices on board.
This is a pretty cool idea for a thread. I need to go through my photobucket. I have a picture that will leave everyone speechless. A friend of mine had a shop back in '08/09. He had a customer come in that wanted a custom exhaust done. He mentioned he has had other custom fabrication done. It was a turboed em1 civic. The turbo/ exhaust manifold was made out of 1.5" mild square tubing. I will leave it at that.. I need to find this picture. Hilarious!

haha, this is funny, im working on one right now in the shop, not as bad as above but the kid just bought it from a well known shop and its a mess, pics to follow
This is why you require a deposit...and when it shows up like that you send them packing and keep the deposit for wasting your time.
I would get cars showing up for a dyno tune with some issues and it was liked they expected me to fix them.
That's just insane. The funniest thing I have seen is bad ground wires for amps while at Best Buy. One was attached to the trunks ceiling with duct tape. Another good one was smashed between the jack and the jack holder.
Hey can you fix my amp???? Sometimes it don't work.

g20 with a hackjob bluebird swap, from "the city" ...big surprise. this was the most couplers used on one intercooler piping setup i think ive ever seen.

cleaned up the wiring, moved the battery back to the front, made new intercooler plumbing, polished the valvecover and stripped the entire motor clean. new u13 oil pan, did the best i could with the budget the customer had.

sc_at_kfi - its a shame to see an svo that looks like that, heres pictures of the one parked next to the g20 in the shop

Just so there's no confusion, those cars have nothing to do with Kinsler Fuel Injection. We do not take in or service vehicles here. Ever. Those are "side projects," if you will.
That D-series did get sent packing. We refused to work with that harness & cust. couldn't afford to do anything about it.
The Mustang is a long term project, road-race oriented. Motec is gone, that harness is gone, AEM S2 about to be plugged in, custom turbo mani. & intake, lots of suspension work, body work, paint.... it will probably be another year before it's totally done, though it will be nice. If you're into those.

UPS dropped off a package and upon opening it I found the trans (that I was to install an LSD and FD into) was sealed up with hot glue, stacks were assembled correctly, parts were missing, and there was a hole in the case. The hole was plugged with part of the missing chunk held in by hot glue. The inside of the case was painted along with the outside (not over spray, the entire inside of the case was actually painted). I don't think the trans was ever used after being "assembled" as the customer bought it from someone local to him after I had told him my price for a good core trans. Pics were lost on my old computer unfortunately.

i think youd get a kick outof the one in the shop. totally different direction than a roadrace car but should be going high 9's this year.come on people lets see these death traps!
Unfortunately no pics, but we got this white 99' Miata at the shop I work at that the customer used for drifting. The guy gave us a brand new set of AST triple adjustable shocks to put in it.... which had to be worth more than the car itself. The car's subframe was completely rusted through, and the paint looked like it hadn't been cleaned in about a decade. I just don't understand some people...
