NSCRA Outlaw Street Rules
I'm trying to get some clarification on the Outlaw Street rules. I keep being told that certain things are not legal even though they are not in the rules. How is a person supposed to know these items are not allowed if it's not in the rules. I have been class racing for 20 years now and it is commonly known that if it doesn't say it's illegal-it's legal.
What brings this on is that i'm helping a friend with his Outlaw car and we were talking about fuel pumps and i said mechanical,he tells me it's illegal and i surely don't see it in the rules.
Thanks for any help

Its legal for NSCRA rules. Thats ok if you and your "friend" plan on only running in Florida, ever. If you want to run in multiple events you'll want to build with in all the rules at once.
Shawn if you built an outlaw car for me, its gonna be alright when I advertise that my company built it right?

excuse me for my ignorance,i'm a bit of an import newb. where are these events and where can i find all of these rules.
I'm not building a car for anyone-just helping with some technical input.
hmm... i really can't see a performance advantage in it. it's more for saving an engine. very rarely do mech fuel pumps fail, but i have seen my fair share of electric pump problems burning up good engines
its not even illegal for the outlaw race at Etown...technically. The rules don't speak against them. Its been a Grey area since NOPI and NHRA Disappeared.
I wish they would become the norm, my *** would switch in a second to a mech fuel pump.

the way it works in import racing is...... if its not written as "illegal" its legal at the first event you run at.....then, if you are "accepted" they will change the rules and it will then be written into the rules that it is "legal". if your not "accepted", it will then be written into the rules that it is "illegal"
once it becomes "legal" everybody else will then change their set up to put the new "legal" part on their car. there are cars that have been "finished" for years, but dont ever make it to the track because of this whole situation haha
id imagine shawn is going to run nscra and the outlaw race. so email brian and roger to check clarification for the outlaw race, and then email john and jason for nscra. if they say its a go, then your good

of course, isnt that what everyone does? built or tuned? doesent have to even be the whole car.....

You're thinking in the wrong direction.
Smaller turbo = you need to spend even more money to still run internet worthy numbers.
Like when top fuel went from 90% to 85% nitro - they just started running more compression and the crankshafts lasted 2-3 passes instead of 10-12 passes.
The cheapest way to do go pretty fast is to cheat your *** off, and make sure to not finish first and come under any scrutiny.

if your not allowed it should say it. It doesn't say it so why even ask. Just run it and never say a word about it. you've done no wrong. Bringing it up on here is like starting a fire storm. Everyone who doesn't even race but thinks maybe one day they will will be against it cuase they can't afford the change. This is TRUTH I hope you learn from it.

I don't know how bring up something can cause a fire storm. just asking a question because i heard conflicting stories. If it's legal and i ask about it,it shouldn't be an issue to talk about.
i would rather know now rather than they outlaw it after one race.
thanks for everyones input,i guess the consensus is that if it doesn't say it's illegal-it's legal. i guess next year you will be seeing a honda that doesn't look very much like what you are used to seeing
My posts are 50% joking and 50% hard truths that people don't want to hear, as seen from the sidelines and staging lines of this declining sport.
Rick your car is one of my favorites, your **** is fast as hell. I'm not talking about any of you guys that actually go to the events.
I'm talking about the guys on this site that build and re-build their cars, aren't going to any events, going broke, and quitting, because they are worrying about what the "big guys" have. E-racers.
And I'm talking about how, someone could come in and take advantage of all the rules, build a custom divided T4 200mm (lol) turbine wheel, 67.9mm compressor, with all of the car tricks, and go an 8.x. And then half of the this website will be tripping over themselves blowing all of their money copying that guy.

Thanks for the comment. IMO the trick is seat time and tweaking on your set up.
