Icon6 Newbie needs help .. as usual :)

Hi Guys...

I'm new to the site and as usual I have a few problems.

I have a 98 r reg 2.2 vtec Accord saloon. CE shape i think... FB22Z2 engne.

She is approaching 200,000 miles and is in excellent condition considering.

She passed the MOT last week but has a really annoying missfire....

Fine under power but when you have the throttle just open at about 2000rpm she burbles like a scooby... as soon as u touch the throttle she picks up and behaves...

Its really annoying.... I have changed out the leads and plugs and dizzy cap and rotor.

Does any one have any ideas?

I'm going crazy here I love my car and I want to keep her running as long as possible.

Many thanks

Jimmer

Sounds like possible egr port clogging. So are you saying she "stumbles/hesitates" around 1800~2000 rpm's.....search the FAQ for egr port issues/cleaning.

it could be the egr ports, and/or fuel filter. get her checked, good luck!

thanks guys, I have taken the EGR valve off today and given it a good clean.. seemed to be ok.. still misfiring between 2000 - 2500 rpm on low load tho. idle seems ok and under load is ok... very strange.

not sure how to clean the ports out but I will search the forum to see if anyone has put a thread on about it.

Thanks For the advice

Smiles all round.... had a look at ericthecarguy on youtube and followed his vid.

It was sooooo easy to do took half an hour to de-clogg 3 EGR ports.

She runs perfect again.... I cant thank you guys enough...

Congrats....and if nothing else thanks for posting the solution. It helps others when they search to know what worked/fixed the issue.
