Default Snapped an axle today; some questions

Well first time out using the slicks and I snap the passenger side axle =(. Stock LS trans with OBX lsd; full race traction bars.

I was on the 2 step and was preloading and trying to be real gentle with it and still snapped as soon as the tires started moving. Idk if it was a bad axle but the previous owner had countless passes on it so I obviously failed. Only thing changed between him and me was the addition of the traction bars.

How are you guys setting those up? I tried pulling the arms as far forward as possible to 'preload' the control arms but the passenger side has run out of thread already while the driver side hasnt?

I always bring autozone spares with me just in case, it was just disappointing having to resort to street tires afterwards.

I also tried to make stock axles work but after the 10th return to auto zone they told me I couldn't return any more. So I bought Dss 5.9's problem solved

Maybe preloading car after first staging light will help. I've ran 9.50s with stock axles but i weigh 1970lbs in rex.

What adjustment are you guys with traction bars doing?

Do you think DSS 2.9s will be sufficient? The car makes 502whp, but will never see that in first or second gear.

Ive never broken an Axle at the track or on the street...ive had the same axles since i bought the car in 2006, since then i **** you not they have 600+ passes on them... I dont have any traction bars so i cant give you any info on how to set them up, but i can tell you how to preload..

When im on slicks i slip the clutch till i feel the car start to move then i pull the e-brake up never had an issue like that.. Street tires i free revv it and just slip it out of the hole, try to keep it up in the rpm's so it doesn't bog...

I have stock axles and have made over 30 passes on slicks. Just have to preload the car right

I am about to hit the track next week on stock axles, before mine come in. The car weighs 2100lbs including me, so we will see how that goes.
