Default power help

i have a 90 accord and i put a f23a1 out of a 98 accord motor in it and it is running off the stock f22 ecu and also the f22 dizzy and egr valve. i expected the motor to be more powerful than the last one but it is actually really slow and if u full throttle it it goes nowhere and pretty much anything after 4000rpm is pointless. the only code on the ecu is the egr valve but i dont think that would affect that much power. is there any other thing i should check or consider as to what would make it have such a power loss?

change to a OBD 1 F22B1 ECU and wire up the vtec solenoid and vtec pressure switch and use the F23 Distributer

Short answer yes, long answer doubtful.
Go get a chipped obd1 ECU and get it programmed with an F23 basemap.

welll that sounds expensive lol and idk who could make one for me anyways so i would probably more likely go with the f22b1 ecu. well as long as it will work a bit better. but is it ok to use the f22 dizzy?

yeah you need to run the correct ECU especially to activate VTEC which is right around 3800 RPMs.

The F23 is rated for an extra 15-20 Hp over the F22A*. That's not really a huge, seat of the pants, power gain there. You will require the proper F23 ECU or equivalent to see that power gain. Equivalent being a chipped and tuned OBD1 ECU or worst case an OBD1 F22B1 ECU.

oh my bad did I say use the F23 distributer?? I meant if you use the F22B1 distributer if you use an OBD 1 ECU (I forgot that the F23 was OBD 2)
