In 3rd gear at 4k the car(99 CL 2.3) begins to chug, or misfire. It doesn't do it in 1st or 2nd. The check engine light comes on and loses power, the engine is still running, but is super weak. When I restart the car it runs fine, the the check engine light stays on until I unplug the battery. Could the timing be off? Any ideas? Thanks!

 

How about we start with the CEL....what are the codes? Yes there are a ton of things that could be the issue but the ECU is trying to tell us something.
