We rebuilt our '94 GS-R and since then it has been burning virtually no oil (actual rate is about one quart every 7-8K miles, so we add less than a quart between oil changes).

It is somewhat common for this to occur, just depends how much to declare it actually "normal". Could be rings valve seals........

As far as an acceptable ammount of oil burning in the eyes of the Honda dealership goes. A quart of oil being burned every 1000 miles is considered to be acceptable. So if you buy a brand new Honda off the show room floor at a dealership and it burns a quart of oil every 1000 miles they wont do anything about it. It has to burn more than a quart every 1000 miles for them to consider that your engine is bad and it should be replaced under warranty with no charge to you.

What you say is true for warranty work, but the warranty expired years ago on every Integra sold in North America.

You can be consuming more oil than that and it may not be worth it to do anything about it. My GS-R was consuming one quart every 1100 miles for a while, then one quart every 500 miles; even then, it was worth adding oil rather than paying the cost of a rebuild ($2500-4000) to prevent the oil consumption. It was only when coolant started showing up in the oil (blown head gasket) that a rebuild became a must.

Yes I was just speaking as if the car still had a factory warranty or a new car with a factory warranty if you will. Just to give people an idea of what is acceptable in the eyes of Honda. And mine leaks about a quart every 500 miles. Lol. I really need to do something useful and replace all the gaskets and seals that I can with out pulling the motor. A motor can burn a quart every 100 miles but it will make zero power because there would probably be more oil than gas in the combustion mixture. It would at least run like that until something catastrophic happened such as multiple exhaust valves fragging. As I said previously though, I'm putting a quart every 500miles in it and it still runs perfectly fine. There is a substantial rebuild in the future for it though. This spring to be specific.

ya mine only burns it when i hit tec i think.. i just got the car like 3 weeks ago from someone my dad knew. i think mine might be burning it at like 1 qrt ever 500 about depending on how i drive, considering that is was the first two weeks i had the car lol but it is probably like 1 for every 600-800 miles when i dont beat on it.

i have a 2000 gsr that was bone stock with 81k on it when i got it. i drove it fairly hard for 10k miles and now it burns around 1.5 quarts every 1000 miles. rebuild coming this summer hopefully. i dont see oil consumption as a huge problem as long as you know that its not something like a headgasket. i have no coolant in my oil so im not too worried.
