what is the purpose of polishing your crankshaft. i heard honda crankshaft shouldnt be polished? can someone clarify this for me? thanks.

are you dumb? Its really basic stuff. The cast counter shaft has a rough surface which causes drag while spinning. When polished has a smooth surface and doesnt cause as much drag.
I love when people give negative opinions and then nothing to back it up.

yes i am dumb. but you must have even greater levels of dumb to start talking about transmissions when a crank shaft was the original subject.

none the less your explanation makes sense if applied to a crank shaft and i actually learned something. when i read the OP's question i was thinking of the journals and not the rest of the cranks surface.

Hey dumb ***, you don't polish the counter weights. The only part of a crank you polish is the journals. Its to get rid of any blemishes and create a nice and smooth surface for the bearings.

Umm...you actually do polish them before balancing the crank. Not for power really....but for better drain back to the pan. Be careful what you post before you start swinging name calling words like Dumb *** at people. :-)
