Default why polish my crankshaft

what is the purpose of polishing your crankshaft. i heard honda crankshaft shouldnt be polished? can someone clarify this for me? thanks.

anyone?? also i just notice my thread is in welding and fab section. i dont know how it got there but someone can move it the correct section that would be helpful.

yes i am dumb. but you must have even greater levels of dumb to start talking about transmissions when a crank shaft was the original subject.

none the less your explanation makes sense if applied to a crank shaft and i actually learned something. when i read the OP's question i was thinking of the journals and not the rest of the cranks surface.

Polishing your crank shaft journals will level out any variation to ensure everything is smooth and flat. It is a must for post journal machining work to remove any inconsistencies left behind in terms of tooling marks.

Hey dumb ***, you don't polish the counter weights. The only part of a crank you polish is the journals. Its to get rid of any blemishes and create a nice and smooth surface for the bearings.

Umm...you actually do polish them before balancing the crank. Not for power really....but for better drain back to the pan. Be careful what you post before you start swinging name calling words like Dumb *** at people. :-)
