i've did extensive search, but i just want to ask this specific questions..as the title states..what would u perfer?..b18a with 1.7 gsr tranny or b18b with 1.8 gsr tranny?..both will have a stage 2 crower cams with dual valves of course..arp head and rod bolts, new bearing and a p30 pistons..and same bolt-ons...it won't be a daily, maybe drive twice a month, but mostly my weekend drag car...pls let me know your options..

First off whats the car? I'll help you out a little with your info..

-1.8 GSR tranny out of a DC is hydro.
-1.7 GSR tranny out of a DA is cable.

-B18a1 and b18b1 are the same motor essentially, only cams and intake manifolds differ and depending on obd some electronics. If your adding cams and what not A or B won't matter. And for a "drag car" its not going to be that fast, not a mild all motor LS, I'm building one now to drive everyday with a cable b16 tranny in a EG.

true...but i heard cable has weaker internals compared to the hydors...by the way one more question...does the transmission mount differ from each other?

b17 trans is almost the same or maybe the same as a b16. Very short gear ratios. In your case I would opt for the cable b17 trans. Mild build non high revving LS will benefit more from the b17 trans in my opinion.

Agreed, if you can get a cable GSR tranny in good shape I'd get it.

Put the DC2 GSR gears in a YS1 case.

the ys1 trans has a 4.266 final drive. if you like short gearing get it. that slug LS will love you for putting that short geared trans in there.

EDIT: your using this for a drag car? umm why
