Whats the difference? 99-00 S4C b16 tranny vs 96' Spec jdm ITR tranny
Im trying to figure out if there is any differences between the 99-00 S4C b16 hydro tranny, and the 96' Spec jdm ITR tranny, other than the differential, lsd and better synchros on the ITR. From what ive gathered they both have the same 4.4 final drive and gear ratios appear to be the same, but are there any differences that im not seeing?
JDM 96 Spec Transmission has the tapered roller bearings on the differential.
99 S4C would have a ball bearings on the diff
The brackets for the clutch lines on the transmission housings would be different
Same gearing, cannot verify the synchros strength thing

I see, I was asking cause theres a hydro b16 gearset and a 96 spec itr gearset I was looking at locally, I have a broken gsr trans at my house and I figured I could by the b16 gearset for half the price of the itr gearset and just use the gsr differential and casing and it would basically be the same thing, am I correct in thinking that?
It is easily doable!
What I would do though, is use B16 gears on the GSR countershaft.
That is to keep the ring gear and countershaft matching.

I gotta crack the gsr tranny open and make sure anything is still useable in it first The guy I bought it from didnt seal the casing when he rebuilt it and it leaked all the fluid out while I was driving. I got it home and the next day it wouldnt go into any gear, so I ended up just getting a new one, so I gotta crack it open see if it still has any useable parts, but thanks for the help!
